Five TV Shows I cannot live without on my iPad
I’m not Always Writing Poetry
Although writing is a major part of my life, there are ways I like to keep myself entertained. Whether it’s streaming on Xfinity, Prime video, Hulu, or Netflix, I have created a list of five shows that I know I wouldn’t be the same without. A lot of these shows are psychological thrillers or documentaries in some way. The others are comedy based, which is a major way that I keep myself afloat. I suggest that you check out one if not all of these shows if you haven’t already. I’ve enjoyed them for quite some time and I love passing on my favorites to others.
Impractical Jokers
This is a show I have been watching for many years, and thankfully they’re still making new episodes. Four best friends from high school challenge each other to basically go around pranking and messing with people, the catch is that they have to go through with it or they lose. If they fail enough challenges, they can possibly lose the whole episode and be forced to go through with a humiliating punishment.
I stream this show mainly through Amazon prime, yes I purchased the seasons. Occasionally I’ll stream this show through Xfinity, but the commercial breaks are abhorrently long. I found myself getting up and finding something to do during the commercial breaks, just to miss part of the show and make it back just in time for another commercial break. This show is extremely hilarious to me, and it’s the one and only show that cheers me up whenever I’m upset.
The Jokers are all apart of a bigger real-life comedy group called the Tenderloins. They go on tours and do stand up sometimes together and sometimes independently. Sal Vulcano absolutely loves doing stand up and tends to do a lot of independent shows around the country. Joe Gatto is an amazing animal rights activist, and he adopts, typically bichon-frise, dogs from shelters to make sure they have a loving and lasting home to live out their days. Quinn, or Q, is a manly cat-lover that never forgets to remind you of such. He likes to travel and document that journey on his Instagram page. Murr… ah Murr. Murr just recently got engaged! He is the second Joker to publicly announce his relationship status following many congratulations and a lot of surprise from fans.
Homicide Hunter: with Lieutenant Joe Kenda
This show is my guilty pleasure and I mean it when I say that. Joe Kenda is a former detective from Colorado, Springs and he shares many of his cases in this television show series. He goes step by step, clue by clue as he narrates the murder mystery from the very beginning. This show is an absolute thriller when is comes to details and narrative. Lt. Kenda has a keen sense of humor and makes several very witty remarks which make this show unforgettable.
My favorite artistic side of this show is the quotes. Lt. Kenda usually states a quote at the beginning or towards the end of the episode. These quotes are remarkable and artistically beautiful. A lot of people probably overlook them, but this is the part of the show that makes me not feel bad for binge watching. There was a time where I brought one of his quotes to life through visuals, because it was so extremely vivid and powerful although it was the darkest quote I have ever heard. It goes as follows:
the river of death flows past me; it's the river. it just keeps flowing, and it's filled with dead bodies. some talk to me, some don't. some i recognize, some i don't remember. but they're all there, all of them. —Lt. Joe Kenda
Futurama
My little sister, Faith got me addicted to this show. I was visiting my mother over the summer and she had it playing constantly and I hated it! I thought it was a children’s show because it was a cartoon, but after being forced to watch it for several days, I found myself requesting to watch it again and again. This show is mainly for those who like logical humor and intelligent humor. You have to know a little bit about everything to fully understand the gist of this show.
After much thought, I figured my favorite character would be Bender, because of his loud and boisterous lifestyle as a robot. To my surprise, over time my favorite is The Professor. The Professor is a one-hundred sixty-year old mad scientist who invents the craziest machines anyone could ever imagine. He makes very sly and witty remarks that I can very well relate to. He has a very dark and wild sense of humor, which is what keeps me hooked to this show. Although this show has been around for quite some time, if you’re looking for some good intelligent humor, look no further.
Ghost Adventures
Another psychological thriller. Since becoming involved with Orthodoxy, I am learning about how near the dead are to the living. The wall that society tends to put up separating the dead from the living, frankly doesn’t exist and never has. The dead are very near to us and can definitely hear our prayers and voices. This show used to scare me to the point of panic, but now that I’ve spent the time digesting the logistics behind it, and it’s actually pretty hilarious at times.
A lot of the spirits that these guys come into contact with are usually demonic, which is why I feel this show should be renamed to Demon Hunters. Zak is someone who is extremely interested with paranormal activity and you can see his passion for seeking the truth on and off camera. I spent many years trying to debunk this show and I realized how pointless that is, now knowing that all of this happens in real life. Spirits are real, energy is real, and being able to communicate with them is a lot easier than people think. You don’t need thousands of dollars in ghost hunting equipment to talk to or hear a spirit, you just talk and listen. Of course this equipment is used to help capture things for television and I’m sure that fans enjoy the use of this equipment as well; it seems more official.
This is actually the show that I am currently watching while I am working on this blog post. It’s interesting to watch the guys travel to these different locations, hear stories from frightened locals, and capture some pretty interesting evidence of the paranormal. Whether you believe in spirits or not, the show is actually very entertaining due to a lot of things this show does for ratings and the cliffhangers done for commercial breaks. This is a show I watch when I’m feeling inquisitive and I want to listen to a thrilling documented account of possible spirits haunting a location.
Deadly Women
This is a show that I don’t typically binge watch anymore, because of the darkness in the content. I try to stick to about two or three episodes at a time, and then I switch to something else in order to not be affected by it. This show narrates three different stories of three different woman who all killed in similar ways, in one episode. I’ve always been interested in series killers, mainly female serial killers. It intrigues me that woman murder just as much, if not more, than men. Women are often seen as the gentler sex but that is definitely not the case in this show.
The content tends to be pretty dark in nature but it can also be repetitive, because a lot of the women kill for the same reasons. Some of the women have mental issues and kill their family, some kill men that have done them wrong, and others have a narcissistic personality disorder and mass kill when they don’t get their way or they ‘kill for the thrill’. I tend to watch this show on the weekends whenever I’m tired of most other shows. It is a documentary-based program so it is very informative and narrates real-life crimes and events.
